CME ON HEAD & NECK ONCOSURGERY

A workshop on “Head & Neck Oncosurgery'' was held on 21.05.2009 in SUM Hospital sponsored by Institute of Dental Science. The workshop was conducted by Prof.(Dr.) P.C Das, Dean IDS. Dr. Saidul Islam a renowned Dental Surgeon of India graced the occasion as a Chief Guest. IDS campus was declared as “No Tobaco Zone” after thorough study in the workshop on the necessity and importance of education on treatment of dental disease and recovery from oral cancer. Consumption of bidi, cigarate,ganja, gutkha,tobacco etc causes cancer in Oral activity, throat & lungs.Precautions against use of tobacco shall save many precious lives.

In this workshop the India Famous Dental Surgeon (Dr.) Saidul Islam conducted head & neck oncosurgery on two patients assisted by Dr. Asis Kumar Barik, Dr.Anupam Tripathy & Dr. Sahab Ali Beg. This sophisticated Oncosurgery was conducted in the modular OT of Sum Hospital and was live telecast to Lecture Theater –II of IMS & Sum Hospital participated by MBBS & BDS students & teaching faculty members with elaborate question answer session.
